BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team was recognized as a 2014 Division I IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, while rising senior Kara Burke and Katherine Reinhard, a 2014 graduate, where included on the Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Teams with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors, while individuals of at least junior status academically that posted a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher were named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Burke, a general business major, helped power Loyola's offense this past season. The Timonium, Md., native was tied for fourth on the team with a career-best 31 goals, while the Greyhounds ranked 10th in the NCAA with 266 goals. Contributing four hat tricks throughout the season, including a career-high five goals in a regular-season contest at Boston University, Burke helped Loyola lead the Patriot League by more than 50 goals and almost 100 points.

Reinhard, a defender from Ridgewood, N.J., graduated this spring with a degree in communications with a specialization in journalism and a minor in marketing. A mainstay on Loyola's defense the past three years, Reinhard earned Academic All-Patriot League honors after anchoring a defense that ranked 11th in the NCAA by giving up just 8.14 goals per game this past season. Drawing a match-up through various games this season, Reinhard was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team and finished the year with 25 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

The Greyhounds claimed the first-ever Patriot League Championship in any sport for Loyola on Saturday, April 26, defeating fellow Patriot League newcomer Boston University, 18-7, at Ridley Athletic Complex. The Greyhounds completed its inaugural season in the conference with an unblemished 8-0 record and advanced to at least the second round of the NCAA Championships for a fourth-straight year.
