Seventh-annual event to benefit Aikens Children Trust Fund on September 19
The September race benefits the Trust Fund for the children of Diane Geppi-Aikens.

Registration is available on race day for the 7th Annual Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. The event will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009, beginning at 8:30 a.m. from Geppi-Aikens Field at Loyola University.
The race and fun run/walk benefits the Aikens Children Trust Fund, honoring the legacy of former Loyola Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Diane Geppi-Aikens who passed away in 2003. Geppi-Aikens was Loyola's head coach from 1989-2003 and amassed a career record of 197-71, including 10 NCAA Tournament appearances and a No. 1 national ranking in 2003.
The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and commences at Geppi-Aikens Field on Loyola's campus. The event is coordinated by Charm City Run and features a challenging course through the beautiful Guilford neighborhood of Baltimore City.
Awards will be presented at the end of the race to the top three male and female runners, as well as the top three in each age group. The top male and female Loyola lacrosse alumni as well as the top current male and female Loyola students and staff members also will receive prizes.
As in the past two years, the 2009 event features a Team Challenge component. The team with the most entrants also will win a prize. Teams must consist of at least 10 people and can be formed from any group of people (friends, family, college/high school teams, club teams, etc.).
Registration is now available on race day.
