July 2, 2012
BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse team had two of its incoming freshmen participate in the 2012 Under Armour All-America North vs. South Lacrosse game Saturday at Towson’s Johnny Unitas Stadium. Katrina Geiger, a midfielder from Drexel Hill, Pa., and Molly Wolf, a goalkeeper from Ruxton, Md., both represented the south in the game.
Geiger scored three goals and dished out one assist to help lead the South to a 25-13 victory over the North. In goal, Wolf played the final 30 minutes, giving up five goals while stopping five shots and scooping up three ground balls.
The Daily Times Player of the Year in 2012, Geiger wrapped up her career at Haverford High School as the school’s all-time record holder for goals (320) and assists (154). The first player in school history to have their number retired, she was also named the Co-Player of the Year by PhillyLacrosse.com and the Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Delaware County Chapter of PA Sports Hall of Fame as a senior.
Wolf was honored as the Baltimore Messenger’s Lacrosse Player of the Year after leading Bryn Mawr to a 16-3 record as a senior. She posted a 6.3 goals-against average in 2012 and stopped 154 saves, en route to Varsity Sport Network Defensive Player of the Year honors. She was selected as a Baltimore Sun Athlete of the Week in April and concluded her career as a two-time first-team All-Met selection.
