What They're Saying About Jen Adams
June 9, 2008
Loyola Director of Athletics Joe Boylan:
"This is a wonderful day for Loyola College and Loyola Greyhounds athletics. The best young coach in America is joining the Greyhounds family. Jen combines an amazing talent as a student-athlete and a coach, and we are looking forward to her contributions to our program."
Loyola Associate Director of Athletics Teddi Burns:
"We identified Jen as a candidate who we felt would be an exciting and dynamic leader of our program. Through the process, it became clear that she is the person we want in this position, and we are thrilled she will become a Greyhound."
University of Maryland Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Cathy Reese:
"I am very excited for Jen; this is a great opportunity for her. While we will miss her at Maryland, she is going to make a huge impact on the lives of the student-athletes at Loyola. Not only was Jen a great player, and she is an excellent coach, but she is a special person. I will miss her, but she is going to do great things."
Sheehan Stanwick Burch, CBS College Sports Network Women's Lacrosse Analyst in Saturday's Baltimore Sun article:
"Loyola has always been known for defense and hustle. What Jen will be able to do is open up their offense. Jen's a phenomenal player and is still playing the game, which will really help in terms of bringing new aspects in."
Loyola Senior-to-be Defender Meg Taylor:
"Coach Adams is a great player and coach and I am looking forward to playing for her. Our team is excited to welcome her to the Loyola lacrosse family."
Former Maryland Player Tori (Wellington) Hanna. She was a co-captain with Adams as a senior in 2001 and is currently the Director of Women's Sports Marketing for Under Armour:
"Loyola is lucky to get Jen Adams. She was not just a phenomenal athlete but she is an incredible person. She understands and embraces her role as a role model to young athletes and she treats everyone who crosses her path with a high amount of respect. With all of the success Jen has had personally over the years she is the most humble person I know. Jen will come into Loyola and touch the athletes lives on and off the field. She is a great addition to an esteemed school like Loyola."
Towson University Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach Katie Doolittle:
"Jen coached me my Freshman year and my Senior year at Maryland. I also coached against her this year while working as an assistant coach at Towson University. I have worked for her in the summer time as well for her lacrosse camps Elevate Lacrosse. After being coached by Jen for two years it is easy for me to say she is one of the best coaches in the country. Not only does she have an amazing vision of the game but she has the ability to transfer that vision over to her athletes. She continually challenged us at Maryland, she always kept things interesting with new and exciting drills and plays. We were excited to come to practice everyday and learn something new. The knowledge and creativity Jen has in women's lacrosse is unmatched. I'm so excited for Jen and the Loyola family, this is a wonderful opportunity for her as well as the women's lacrosse team."
Loyola Co-Captain and Senior-to-be Attacker Colleen O'Keefe:
"As with any new chapter for a team, we face this with excitement and mixed emotions. I want to thank the previous coaching staff -- Coach KJ, Coach Hags, Coach Jess and Coach Monica -- for their dedication, professionalism and performance as great role models. They have made a big impact on my life, and I am sure will continue to be role models for me. I am excited to play for Coach Adams starting in the fall. She was, and is, one of the best players the game's ever seen. From talking to her, she seems like a great person, and she knows the game extremely well."
Loyola Junior-to-be Defender Tara Gardner:
"I have loved the team and my time so far here at Loyola, and it's very exciting to be part of this new chapter in our lacrosse program. I'm sure Jen Adams will bring a lot to our program, and we are thrilled to have her and can't wait to get started on the 2009 season. She is an excellent player and has already proven to be an excellent coach. We can't wait to learn more about her insight of the game and have her help us to continue to grow as a team."
