April 23, 2014
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland seniors Marlee Paton and Katherine Reinhard were named to the 12-member Academic All-Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Team, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Paton, the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year and first-team All-Patriot League honoree, carries a 3.45 grade-point average in communications with a specialization in advertising and public relations and a minor in marketing. The second Greyhound in program history to be a four-time all-conference honoree (Grace Gavin, 2008-11), Paton is among the top four active scoring leaders in the NCAA this year, contributing 264 points throughout her four years so far. The Seaholme, Australia native will graduate in the top-six of Loyola’s career records for goals, assists, points and cased turnovers.
Reinhard, a defender from Ridgewood, N.J., holds a 3.56 grade-point average in communications with a specialization in journalism and a minor in marketing. A mainstay on Loyola’s defense the past three years, Reinhard has anchored a defense that ranks 11th in the NCAA and gives up just 8.00 goals per game. Drawing a match-up through various games this season, Reinhard has helped the defense keep seven of its last eight opponents to six goals or less and has 15 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers this year.
Loyola was one of four league schools with two representatives on the team. Bucknell boasted the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year in Katelyn Miller, in addition to Sophie Kleinert on the team, while Lehigh’s Carli Sukonik and Lauren Willcox and Navy’s Jill Coughlin and Katie Gallagher were also on the academic squad. American’s Emily Maher, Boston University’s Sydney Godett, Holy Cross’ Sara Hennessey and Lafayette’s Laura Kleiber were also honored on the team.
The Greyhounds will open play in the Patriot League Tournament on Thursday when they host Holy Cross at Ridley Athletic Complex at 5 p.m.
