Gavin Earns BIG EAST Honor Roll Mention
April 7, 2008
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Loyola freshman midfielder Grace Gavin was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for the third time this season, after her big scoring performances in wins over Cincinnati and Louisville.
Gavin set a career-high with seven goals in the Greyhounds' 21-18 victory yesterday over Louisville. Her total was the most since Kate McHarg scored 11 against Rutgers on March 12, 2006.
She also totaled two draw controls and a caused turnovers against the Cardinals. Gavin scored two goals during a 5-0 Loyola run that happened in less than three minutes early in the second half. The stretch put Loyola ahead, 15-8, and helped the Greyhounds hold off a late Louisville run.
On Friday against Cincinnati, Gavin scored two goals and finished with a career-high three assists, helping Loyola defeat the Bearcats, 20-6. Gavin controlled two draws, picked up a ground ball and forced two turnovers against Cincinnati.
The award is the third of the season for Gavin and the sixth of the season for Loyola.
The Greyhounds return to action on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, against 3:30 p.m. at Mount St. Mary's.
