CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland junior Annie Thomas has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the league office Monday.

This is the second-consecutive week Thomas has received the award this season, meanwhile senior Marlee Paton was included on this week’s honorable mention performances.

In a top-15 matchup Wednesday, Thomas led the Greyhounds to an 8-5 win over Georgetown, notching two goals, an assist and two ground balls in the victory over the Hoyas. Thomas’ points came during a rally that turned the score from 5-3 to 6-5, which included Thomas’ game-winning tally.

Later in the week, Thomas once again led the Greyhounds to victory, 19-5, over College of the Holy Cross. The junior assisted on the first three goals of the game and finished with one goal, six assists and seven points.

Thomas has scored a point in 30-straight games, and is already up to 78 career assists. For the season, she leads the team in assists (20) and is second in goals (23) and points (43).

Paton, a senior All-America honoree from Seaholme, Australia, had six goals, two assists, four ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers in the two Greyhounds victories.

For the season, Paton leads the team in goals (30) and points (45), and is second in assists (15) and ground balls (22). Paton is also tied for the team lead with 21 caused turnovers.

Thomas becomes the first Greyhounds to earn three offensive player of the week honors this season, while Paton and junior Hannah Schmitt have also garnered the accolade. Thomas is also the third Greyhound with multiple weekly honors, as VanThof was twice named the midfielder of the week and sophomore goalkeeper Molly Wolf has earned defensive honors twice this season.
