BALTIMORE - Former Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse All-American Grace Gavin has signed to play for Team STX, the inaugural post-collegiate elite women’s lacrosse team, the Baltimore-based lacrosse manufacturer announced recently.

Team STX is expected to compete at the highest levels of the post-collegiate women’s lacrosse circuit. In addition, the team will play a central role in the company’s grassroots efforts to expand the reach of the game.

Joining Gavin on the initial roster for the first-ever post-collegiate women’s lacrosse team will be Lauren Benner (Virginia/Denver, ‘12), Brittany Brigandi (Le Moyne, ‘12), Dana Cahill (Penn State, ‘12), Clayton Crum (Texas, ‘12), Mary Flowers (Richmond, ‘12), Julie Gardner (Virginia, ‘12), Cacki Helmer (Cornell, ‘12), Josie Owen (Virginia, ‘12) and Maggie Tamasitis (Notre Dame, ‘12). STX will finalize the team this summer.

A 2011 graduate of Loyola, Gavin concluded her career as a finalist for the prestigious Honda Sports Award for Women’s Lacrosse and the Tewaaraton Award. The Greyhounds’ all-time leader in goals and points, in both a career and single season, Gavin was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Year and earned four-straight All-BIG EAST honors, while finishing her career as the BIG EAST’s all-time leader in goals scored in conference games, with 94.

In four seasons, Gavin finished with 311 points and 228 goals, contributing at least one point in 70 of 71 career games and at least one goal in 68 of 71 games. When she graduated, her 311 points were 16th all-time in NCAA Division I history and her 228 goals were tied for 16th.
