Syracuse, N.Y. - The Loyola College women's lacrosse team fell to No. 10 Syracuse, 21-6, after a 14-1 run by the Orange in the second half Saturday at the Carrier Dome. The Greyhounds fall to 2-12 on the season and 0-5 in BIG EAST play while SU improves to 10-4 and 4-1 in the conference.
Loyola got on the board first when sophomore Colleen O'Keefe scored on a free-position shot after 3:26 of play. Syracuse's Halley Quillinan answered to tie the game at 1-1 off a pass from Kristin Brady in the seventh minute. Quillinan gave the Orange its first lead, 2-1, with her unassisted goal 10 minutes into the game. The teams continued to battle as senior Kate McHarg scored an unassisted goal at 11:35 to tie the game at 2-2. Sophomore Meghan Joines returned the lead to the `Hounds, 3-2, with her first career-goal assisted by freshman Jessie Heisterman four minutes later. Ashley Pike and Katie Rowan gave the Orange back-to-back goals and the 4-3 lead after 21:26 of play. McHarg answered scoring back-to-back goals of her own, the first unassisted and the second assisted by freshman Emily Gibson, to take the 5-4 lead at with three minutes left in the first half but Syracuse scored the final three goals of the first half to take a 7-5 lead at the half.
The Orange worked hard in the second half scoring the first five goals of the half in eight minutes to take a 12-5 lead. The Greyhounds ended the SU run with a free-position goal by sophomore Meg Taylor in the 39th minute for the 12-6 score. That would be Loyola's only goal in the second half as the Orange scored the final nine goals of the game for the 21-6 final score.

Dove and Quillinan each scored five goals for Syracuse while Pike added four.
Freshman goalkeeper Karen Nicolaus recorded five saves for the `Hounds while classmate Courtney Burhans stopped two shots in the final 5:34 of play.
Syracuse keeper Amber Paradee-Hill recorded eight saves.
The Greyhounds travel to Delaware on Tuesday, April 24.
