BALTIMORE, MD - No. 1 ranked Princeton scored four unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes of the second half for a 9-5 win over No. 4 Loyola on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field Sunday. The Greyhounds fall to 3-1 with the loss while the two-time reigning national champion Tigers improve to 2-0.

Princeton scored the first four goals of the game, holding Loyola scoreless for the first 16 minutes of the game to get a 4-0 lead. Talia Shacklock got the Greyhounds on the board with 14:05 remaning in the first half of a feed from freshman Kate McHarg for a 4-1 score. Princeton's Theresa Sherry answered back with her second goal of the day with 11:08 remaining. Sherry's goal was assisted by Lindsey Biles. Stephanie Walker scored on a free-position with 8:44 remaining to start a 3-0 Loyola run. Sydney Greene scored the next goal for Loyola at 4:31 off a pass from behind the net by Jaclyn Borrone and Rachel Shuck scored the final goal of the half with just 10 seconds remaining to set the halftime score at 5-4.

Borrone tied the score for the Greyhounds exactly three minutes into the half and Loyola held Princeton without a goal for the next eight minutes before the Tigers finished out the game with four straight goals.

Kim Lawton and Cindy Nicolaus split time in goal with Lawton starting today's game and making two saves. Nicolaus stopped nine Princeton attempts. Sarah Kolodner made 14 saves for Princeton.

Princeton freshman Kathleen Miller finished the game with three goals and two assists. Biles had three goals and an assist.

 

 

The Greyhounds will play Delaware at home Friday, March 12. The opening draw is set for 4:00.
