Sheahin Honored As MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week

Katie Sheahin is averaging 6.0 steals per game through the first three games of the season for the Greyhounds.

EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland junior Katie Sheahin was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Sheahin has started the 2011-12 season right where she left off in 2010-11, averaging 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.0 steals per game. Sheahin led Loyola with 13 points in the team's season-opener against Maryland, and has followed that with two of the best defensive efforts in Greyhound history. Sheahin tied a career-high with seven steals in a win over Navy, and then set a career-high with eight steals at Pittsburgh.

Sheahin currently ranks fifth on the all-time career steals list at Loyola with 187 and is first in program history averaging 3.1 steals per game. The Brookeville, Md., native has a 3.35 GPA while majoring in Business.
