Taylor Selected To Great Britain U20 Team
BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland rising sophomore Molly Taylor was selected for the Great Britain U20 Women's Basketball Camp, which will provide vital preparation for the FIBA U20 Women's European Championships in Eilat, Israel July 8-16, 2017.
"Being a part of Great Britain's National Team has been a goal of Molly's since I first met her," Loyola head women's basketball coach Joe Logan said. "I am ecstatic for her and happy that she is being rewarded for her relentless work ethic. I know that she will represent her country in a first class fashion. I look forward to watching her compete."
Of the 17 players selected for the Manchester camp, Taylor is one of eight currently playing collegiate basketball in the United States.
In her rookie campaign at Loyola, Taylor led the Greyhounds with a .420 3-pt field-goal percentage, rattling in 42 shots from long range, finishing just one shy of the team lead. She also contributed 5.5 points per game average, 45 rebounds, 19 assists and four steals throughout the season.
Taylor becomes the second Greyhound to be selected to compete with the British Basketball U20 team, as Siobhan Prior was selected to the first-ever GB Under-20's squad in 2006, after completing her freshman year at Loyola. Prior, a Molten WBBL All-British Team of the Year selection for the Nottingham Wildcats in 2016, made her debut with the GB Senior squad last month.
