Catonsville, Md. -Junior Nicole Krusen notched her first career double-double, as the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team brought home their first win of the season against the UMBC Retrievers. The Greyhounds defeated the Retrievers 68-55, for the first time since 2009.

The Loyola Greyhounds (1-2) shot 43.9 percent from the field, as the 68 points were the most points the team has scored all season.

Krusen went 5-8 from behind the arc, recording 15 points and ten rebounds, only two points shy of her career high 17 points against George Washington in 2011.


 

 

Katie Sheahin added 16 points, the most points for the Greyhounds, while Nneka Offodile posted 13 points, a career-high for the junior forward. 

In total, four Loyola players notched double digit points, including freshman Diana Logan. The rookie posted a career-high ten points, in 20 minutes of play.

Lauren Chase scored 18 points for UMBC to lead all scorers on Saturday. Chase, last week's America East player of the week, went 7-13 from the paint, making two from behind the arc. 

The Greyhounds led through most of the first half, but found themselves down by one with 6:31 left to go.  Logan made two jumpers and a layup, putting the Greyhounds up by five. 

The Greyhounds went into halftime, leading by four, but the Retrievers would come out strong after the break.

Bria White made a three, only two minutes into the second half, but the Greyhounds would counter, as Krusen reciprocated the shot for Loyola.

The Greyhounds' out shot the Retrievers 43.9 percent to 35.2 percent.

Loyola is back in action Tuesday as they take on future Patriot League foe, Navy, for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
