Baltimore, Md. - It was a total team effort as the Loyola College women's basketball team defeated Siena, 66-56 Monday night at Reitz Arena. All five Loyola starters tallied double figures in scoring led by junior Katie Scherle's 14 points while classmate Krystle Harrington recorded her second consecutive double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Greyhounds improve to 4-9 overall and 3-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play while the Saints fall to 4-9 and 1-3 in the MAAC.

Loyola started the contest on a 10-2 run spurred by Ebony Toliver and didn't allow the first Siena basket until nearly three minutes into the contest. Siena then went on a run of their own, 12-4 to tie things up at 14 at 11:13. Both teams then went scoreless for nearly four minutes before Siena's Katelyn Dooley extended the Saint's run to claim the lead 16-14 at 7:48. Toliver then tied things up seconds later at 16 before an 8-0 run by Siena to claim a 24-16 lead. The Greyhounds started a quiet comeback with two free throws by Kerri-Lynn Orsini at 3:30 for a 24-18 score. The squads exchanged baskets before the Greyhounds went to the line again with Harrington hitting 1-of-2 and Scherle hit a jumper at 1:40 to cut the Siena lead to 26-23. Siena's Laura Menty ended an over two minute scoring drought to give the Saints a 28-23 lead but Loyola scored the last seven points of the half marked by a three-pointer by Lauren Troupe with seven seconds remaining for a 30-28 Loyola lead.

In the second half, the score was tied four times over the first nine minutes before the Greyhounds went on a 12-0 to build a 52-42 lead with 7:44 remaining in the contest. Siena ended another scoring drought, this one over three minutes long with a free-throw by Laura Menty but the Saints were never able to get any closer as the Greyhounds played tenacious defense and solid offense to hold out for the conference victory.
