Ryan Gensler has been named an assistant women's basketball coach at Loyola University Maryland, announced Greyhounds Head Coach Joe Logan.

He joins the Greyhound staff after spending the last two seasons at St. Bonaventure University where he was an assistant coach to Jim Crowley.

In his first season with the Bonnies, Gensler helped the women's basketball team to a program-record 31 wins and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. St. Bonaventure finished the Atlantic 10 Conference season with a perfect 14-0 record, winning the conference regular season title for the first time in school history.

Prior to joining the staff at St. Bonaventure, Gensler worked as the Director of Basketball Operations/Graduate Assistant Coach at Providence College. In his role, he coordinated team travel and managed film exchange and team scouting, while organizing community outreach opportunities throughout the campus and surrounding community.

Gensler, a Fayetteville, N.Y., native, graduated from Saint Joseph's University in 2009 with his bachelor of arts and science in political science with a minor in business. He later earned his masters in education, with an emphasis on guidance and counseling, from Providence College in 2011.

"We are excited to have Ryan join our program, as his overall experience makes him a great fit for Loyola University Maryland," Logan said. "We are gaining someone who is a proven winner on and off the court, as Ryanhas learned from some great coaches in Cindy Griffin at Saint Joseph's and Jim Crowley at St. Bonaventure."

During his time as an undergraduate at Saint Joseph's, Gensler was the head women's basketball manager for his alma mater. He assisted with video, player scouting and managing practice and game day operations.

Throughout his career, Gensler worked at and directed a number of basketball camps, including those at Duke, Saint Joseph's, and Le Moyne College. In 2010, he directed the Phil Seymore Basketball Camp, organizing more than 200 girls for a two-day shooting clinc and five-day overnight camp. That same year, Gensler was a practice player for the USA Basketball Women's National Team.

"I am honored and excited to be joining Loyola University and working with head coach Joe Logan," Gensler said. "I'd like to thank St. Bonaventure Coach Jim Crowley for preparing me at such a high level. It is my hope to bring the great experiences I have been fortunate to be a part of with me to help transition into the Patriot League. It is my goal to achieve similar success at Loyola on the court, in the classroom, and in the community."
