Kelly Muir continues her association with Loyola head coach Candy Cage and assistant coach Mark Miller as she begins her fourth season with the Loyola women's basketball program.
Muir serves as Loyola's recruiting coordinator and has done so for the past two seasons. She also oversees the Greyhounds strength and conditioning program. Muir also aids in organizing and directing camps as well as organizing Loyola's Fall Coaching Clinic. She works with Coach Miller in developing Loyola's post players as well as assisting in all other facets of coaching.
"Kelly serves as our recruiting coordinator," Cage said. "Here efforts have definitely paid off with the amount of recruits we have been able to attract to Loyola."
Muir is a 1999 graduate of Georgia Tech, where she played for then assistant coaches Cage and Miller. At Tech she walked onto the Yellow Jacket women's basketball team as a sophomore, earned a scholarship as a junior and served as team captain and started for the Yellow Jackets her senior year.
Following graduation, Muir spent two seasons as the graduate assistant coach at Rider University. At Rider, Muir was responsible for on-the-floor and individual low-post position coaching. She also coordinated strength and conditioning exercises and the administration and organization of summer camps.
At Georgia Tech, Muir was a four-year recipient of a HOPE Scholarship for maintaining a 3.0 grade point average and the first female recipient of the Five Star Leadership Award. Muir also earned the John Statton Scholarship, awarded to an outstanding Georgia Tech scholar-athlete, and was on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Muir earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech and a master's degree in business administration/management from Rider in May of 2001.
Muir, 27, resides in Baltimore.
