White Drops Green In Intrasquad Match

Loyola's men's tennis team split into Green and White teams recently for its annual intrasquad match, and the White team left the Butler Courts with a narrow 4-3 victory.

The teams split two doubles matches, as Keyan Sanai and Pierce Norton teamed for the White to defeat Kevin Zingler and Ryan Fitzgerald, 8-4. Matt McDaniel and Bobby Gorczakowski rallied for the Green, defeating Tim Koch and Chet Milot, 8-4.

Fitzgerald beat Chet Milot, 6-4, 6-2, in No. 4 singles, and C.J. Chomeau topped Phil Vavelidis in a super-tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6 (7) at No. 5.

The White team, however, rallied with wins in the Nos. 1-3 slots. Sanai beat Zingler, 7-5 (retired), and Norton recorded a super-tiebreaker win over McDaniel, 2-6, 6-0 (7). Koch finished the match with another frame that went to a tiebreaker, beating Gorczakowski, 7-6 (5), 5-7 (7).
