Dooley Named To NSCAA Scholar All-America Team
Dec. 19, 2013
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Loyola University Maryland men's soccer senior Stephen Dooley has been named to the NSCAA Men's Scholar All-America Second Team, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Wednesday.
Dooley, a third-team honoree a year ago, is one of eight repeat selections among the 33 student-athletes honored on the University Division's first, second or third teams. He was a member of the third-team last season.
Carrying a 3.4 grade-point average in business administration, the Portstewart, Northern Ireland native earned Patriot League All-Academic Team honors this year and is the lone Patriot League player to be represented on this year's national academic team.
A member of the 2013 Preseason Patriot League Team, Dooley finished the season ranked third in the League with six assists and 10th with 10 points. He scored the game-winning goal while Loyola played a man down in a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Princeton. He also assisted both of the Greyhounds' goals in a 2-0 win over Campbell, and sophomore Larry Ndjock's game-tying goal in a 1-1 tie at Colgate.
Dooley capped off his career as an All-Patriot League First Team and NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team selection this year, giving him two all-region honors and three all-conference honors throughout his four years at Loyola. He was also among the Senior CLASS Award candidates this year.
In addition, with 22 assists, he concluded his career ranked eighth in Loyola's NCAA Division I record book for career assists, while he's tied with Nick Mangione (1976-79) for 11th in all-time program history.
