CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland men’s soccer freshman Ryan Tuck has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office. Sophomore Larry Ndjock was also included among the honorable mention performances.

The Stokesley, England, native helped the Greyhounds’ defense post its first shutout in Patriot League play on Saturday, as Loyola closed out its season with a 1-0 overtime victory over Lafayette on Senior Day.

Tuck disrupted one of Lafayette’s best scoring chances in the 72nd minute when he broke up their breakaway attempt, keeping the game scoreless. He also helped the defense limit the Leopards to just two shots on goal and three corners throughout the game, including overtime. The two shots on goal ties the least amount of shots that the Greyhounds have allowed on goal for any opponent this year.

Tuck concluded the year as one of three Greyhounds to play all 1,575 minutes. He is also the first freshman under head coach Mark Mettrick to play every minute of their inaugural season, while he’s one of only nine Greyhounds to start every game of their freshman season for Mettrick. Classmate David Warburton also started every game this year, while classmate Dominic Marshall was a member of the starting lineup every game last year.

Ndjock concluded the season by scoring his league-leading 12th goal of the year in overtime. The score marked his sixth game-winning goal of the year.

This marks the first career weekly honor for Tuck, while he also becomes the fourth Greyhound to be honored by the league this year. Ndjock earned offensive player of the week honors twice (Sept. 9 and Nov. 4), while senior Jamie Libby was the defensive player of the week on September 3 and senior Thurman Van Riper was the goalkeeper of the week on September 16.
