Bannister Moves Into National Lead For Assists Per Game

BALTIMORE - Loyola junior forward Phil Bannister moved into a tie for first in throughout NCAA Division I for assists per game after recording a pair of helpers in the Greyhounds' regular-season finale at Manhattan.
Bannister and the Greyhounds open play in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships as the No. 2 seed on Friday, November 13, when they take on No. 3 seed and tournament host Fairfield at 4 p.m.
His two assists on Sunday raised his season total to 10 and his per game average to 0.67. Bannister missed four games earlier this year due to injury.
Bannister is tied with Levi Houapeu for first in the national category. He completed the regular-season leading the MAAC in total assists and assists per game.
His teammate, senior forward Jamie Darvill, is tied for 16th nationally with 0.53 assists per game. Darvill is also 14th in points per game (1.71) and tied for 21st with 0.59 goals per game.
