Saramago Named To TopDrawerSoccer Team Of The Week
Loyola University Maryland men’s soccer sophomore Brian Saramago has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week.
The forward from New Hyde Park, New York, was also voted the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Needing a win to capture the program’s first-ever Patriot League regular-season title, Saramago delivered the game-winning goal in the first half to lead the Greyhounds (11-5-1 overall, 7-2-0 Patriot League) to a 1-0 win over Lafayette at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Saramgo leads the Greyhounds with eight goals and 19 points this season, while he picked up his second-straight first-team All-Patriot League honor on Monday. In conference play, Saramago is tied for first in the Patriot League with eight goals and 18 points.
Loyola, hosting the Patriot League Championships on Friday and Sunday, will open tournament play in the semifinal round against Colgate on Friday at 5 p.m. The winner of the game will advance to the Championship Game and face the winner of the Boston University vs. Holy Cross semifinal (Friday, 8 p.m.) on Sunday at 3 p.m.
