Oct. 31, 2012
BALTIMORE - Larry Ndjock, a freshman forward on the Loyola University Maryland men’s soccer team, was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week ending October 28.
Ndjock scored twice to play a key role in Loyola’s 3-2 double-overtime win over Saint Peter’s Friday night, clinching the Greyhounds a spot in the upcoming conference championships. He then scored his 13th goal of the year to help Loyola secure a 3-0 win over Manhattan on Sunday, giving the Greyhounds sole possession of first place in the league.
The Berlin, Germany native has a team-best 13 goals and 29 points this year. He is the top-ranked freshman in the NCAA in total points, total goals and goals per game (0.76), ranking tied for 10th overall in total points and goals per game, and tied for 17th nationally in points per game (1.71).
In the MAAC, Ndjock leads the league in goals and is tied with Siena’s Sindre Ek for the most points. He’s also tied with Ek with four game-winning goals.
Ndjock has also earned four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors this year, the most of any freshman in the league since 2011 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Carl Haworth (Niagara) won five in 2008.
The Greyhounds will take a seven-game win streak – their longest stretch since winning 13 straight in 2008 – into their regular-season finale at Rider on Friday. Loyola is set to face the Broncs at Ben Cohen Field at 7 p.m.
