Loyola Men's Soccer
Loyola is in its 71st season as a men's soccer program, while this is the Greyhounds' 32nd year of competition as an NCAA Division I program.
It is also Loyola's inaugural year as a member of the Patriot League.
The Greyhounds were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for 24 years, posting an overall record of 167-24-8 in conference games from 1989-2012. Loyola also claimed 16 regular-season titles and 12 MAAC Tournament titles in that time.
The Greyhounds, unbeaten so far this year and coming off three-straight wins, have posted their best record to start the season since 2008. The 2008 squad opened the year 5-0-0 and finished the regular season unbeaten, at 17-0-1.
In addition, this year marks the sixth time in school Division I history that the Greyhounds have been unbeaten through their first five games, while it is the 17th time in the 71-year history of the program that Loyola has not lost in its first five contests.
Sophomore Larry Ndjock leads the offense with a Patriot League-best six goals, while junior Connor Thompson is second on the team with three goals. Senior Diego McQuestion is the only other Greyhound with a goal this season.
In goal, both senior Thurman Van Riper and freshman Jordan Watson have seen time, with each posting shutouts. Van Riper has earned two shutout victories, while Watson has one.
The Tigers are coming off their first win of the season, a 1-0 victory over Seton Hall on Sunday.
Thomas Sanner, Cameron Porter and Bryan Windsor have all scored goals for Princeton this season, while Windsor has the Tigers' lone game-winning goal.
In goal, Seth MacMillan has played all 270 minutes. MacMillan has allowed six goals and stopped eight shots for a .571 save percentage.
The last time Princeton and Loyola met was in 2008, with the Greyhounds earning a 1-0 victory.
Loyola has a pair of Greyhounds ranked among the nation's statistical leaders.
Sophomore Larry Ndjock is ranked third in the NCAA with six goals this year, 1.20 per game, while he is also tied for fourth with 12 points.
Senior Stephen Dooley is also ranked, sitting second nationally with four assists, 0.80 per game.
Patriot League Honors - Van Riper and Ndjock
Senior Thurman Van Riper became the third Greyhound to be honored by the Patriot League, earning goalkeeper of the week honors on September 16.
Van Riper earned back-to-back shutouts as Loyola beat Quinnipiac, 1-0, and Campbell, 2-0.
The Quinnipiac shutout marked the first for Van Riper this season, while the Campbell one extended his consecutive shutout minutes to 186 minutes and 53 seconds.
Sophomore Larry Ndjock was also included as an honorable mention this week after extending his goal-scoring streak to four-straight games. Ndjock scored both game-winners against Quinnipiac and Campbell, and now has a league-best six goals and 12 points on the season.
Greyhounds To Be Featured On NSCAA TV
The NSCAA has selected the Greyhounds' game versus UMBC on Saturday, Sept. 21 to be featured in its NSCAATV College Soccer Spotlight broadcast.
Heading into this weekend's play, the local rivals sport a combined 7-0-1 record, with Loyola holding a 3-0-1 record and UMBC recording an undefeated 4-0-0 mark.
Dave Johnson, who serves as Comcast SportsNet's television play-by-play voice for Major League Soccer's D.C. United and the radio announcer for the NBA's Washington Wizards, will call the acion.
Keith Tabatznik, former head coach at Georgetown, will be the color analyst.
Loyola will remain at Ridley Athletic Complex for two more home games.
The Greyhounds host UMBC on Saturday, Sept. 21, before concluding the homestand with their Patriot League opener against Holy Cross on Saturday, Sept. 28.
