Men's Soccer Alumnus Greg Howard '10 To Speak At Loyola
BALTIMORE - Former Loyola men’s soccer player and current New York Times reporter Greg Howard is slated to speak on the Evergreen campus February 26 in McManus Theater.
Howard was recently named to Forbes’ list of 30 Under 30 In Media for his work with The New York Times Magazine as a David Carr Fellow. There, he covered a variety of topics, including sports, politics, race and music.
At Loyola, Howard was a three-year member of the men’s soccer team and was a midfielder on the 2008 team that went undefeated in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play, rose to as high as No. 6 in the NSCAA/Adidas National Rankings and earned a first-round by in the NCAA College Cup.
Since graduation, the Bowie, Maryland native has made a name for himself in the media world, working for Deadspin, the Village Voice and the Dallas Observor prior to his fellowship.
On February 26, his 6 p.m. reading that is being hosted by Loyola’s Writing Department will cover topics from throughout his career.
