Volunteer Assistant Coach

Kyle Swarts returns to Loyola as a volunteer assistant coach this year. Swarts was previously an assistant coach with Loyola's men's soccer program before stepping aside from the staff in 2011 to focus on his job as a Director of Business Development in the healthcare industry.

A former goalkeeper at West Virginia, Swarts' primary coaching responsibility is training Greyhounds players at his former position.

Under his tutelage, Milos Kocic '08 became one of the top goalkeepers in the nation. Kocic led Division I in goals against average in 2007 and was an NSCAA All-America Second Team member in 2008. He was a second round draft pick by D.C. United in the MLS SuperDraft and currently plays for the MLS' Toronto F.C.

Swarts graduated with a business degree from West Virginia in 2003, where he was selected to the BIG EAST Academic Honor Roll three times.

During his college career, he was selected to the U.S. Regional Team and represented the East at the 2002 U.S. Olympic Festival in Chicago. While playing for the regional team, Swarts spent time training in Switzerland, Belgium, France and Liechtenstein.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Swarts returned to his hometown after graduation and served as head coach for the Buffalo United Soccer Club.

During his time in Baltimore, Swarts was a head coach for the Baltimore Bays Soccer Club, served as Assistant Goalkeeper Coach for Maryland Olympic Development Program and as Goalkeeper Coach for DC United U-16 and U-18 Academy Teams.

Swarts currently resides in Towson with his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Eva.
