Matt Dwyer is in his third season as assistant men's soccer coach at Loyola. Dwyer, who brings a wealth of knowledge from his involvement in the youth soccer coaching ranks and valuable professional playing experience to the program. He has helped guide Loyola to a 37-5-2 record over the last two seasons.
During his tenure on the sidelines with the Greyhounds, Loyola's side has won two MAAC Regular-Season titles and advanced to the NCAA College Cup Second Round twice.
Dwyer holds several coaching licenses, including an NSCAA Premier Diploma, a USSF "A" license and an English FA coaching badge. He began his club coaching in Louisiana where he led local club teams to six state championships over seven years. He moved to Baltimore in 2001 and coached in the Baltimore Bays Soccer Club organization. Prior to his arrival at Loyola, Dwyer held the position of Technical Director with the Bays for five years.
Dwyer coached the U-16 Bays team for four years and is still involved as a youth coach in the United Soccer League and Olympic Development Program. In addition, he also serves as a national team scout for youth players in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
A native of Foulridge, Lancashire, in the United Kingdom, Dwyer is a product of Burnley Football Club's youth program, where he made several professional appearances before beginning his coaching career.
Dwyer graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports studies with a minor in psychology from Towson in 2006. He currently resides in Canton with his wife Terri and their daughter, Madelyn.
