Men's Lacrosse Ranked 12th In Face-Off Yearbook Poll
BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse, coming off its third Patriot League title in four years, is ranked 12th in the preseason Face-Off Yearbook Top-25, according to the staff of Inside Lacrosse which publishes the magazine.
The Greyhounds are the top-ranked Patriot League team in the poll with four other conference members ranked: Army West Point (17th), Boston University (19th) and Navy (22nd).
Loyola will open the 2018 season with a pair of games against opponents ranked in the Top-16 of the poll.
Virginia, which is ranked 16th, hosts the Greyhounds in the season-opener on February 10, and No. 11 Johns Hopkins then visits Ridley Athletics for Loyola’s home-opener on February 17.
The Greyhounds play four other teams that are ranked in the preseason poll, three at Ridley Athletic Complex. Loyola hosts Towson (14th) on February 28 and travels to nearby Navy on March 17. The Greyhounds later host Boston University and Army West Point on back-to-back weeks with the Terriers and Black Knights coming to Ridley on April 14 and 20, respectively.
Two ranked teams, North Carolina (10th) and Richmond (20th) will play scrimmages against Loyola at Ridley on January 27 and February 3, respectively.
Loyola finished the 2017 season with an 11-5 record and 6-2 mark in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds outscored Holy Cross and Army West Point 26-7 in two Patriot League Championships games, winning the conference title and earning a bid to the NCAA Championships for the third time in four seasons.
