Loyola Men's Lacrosse Recognized By United States Senate
July 2, 2012
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Loyola University Maryland men's lacrosse team was saluted on the floor of the United States Senate on Thursday for winning its first-ever NCAA Championship.
The Greyhounds, which finished the season with an 18-1 record, defeated the University of Maryland, 9-3, on May 28 to win the school's first ever title at the NCAA Division I level.
A resolution was submitted by Maryland's senators, Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, and unanimously passed by the Senate.
The resolution read:
SENATE RESOLUTION 514--COMMEMORATING THE VICTORY OF LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND IN THE 2012 NCAA DIVISION I MEN'S LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
