The men's lacrosse team captured its first National Championship, beating Maryland, 9-3, on Monday, May 28.
Loyola men's lacrosse defeated Fairfield, 14-7, to win the ECAC Championship.
Loyola beat #19 Delaware, 13-8, to open the 2012 season on February 18, 2012.
2012 (Junior): Started the first three games of the season in goal of the Greyhounds and played in eight... Made seven saves and allowed eight goals in the season opener against Delaware (2/18)... Then tallied four saves and allowed just four goals in nearly 54 minutes of action against Towson (2/25)... Made two saves in the final two minutes of the ECAC Championship Game against Fairfield (3/5) and had a save in the final two minutes of the NCAA Championship Game versus Maryland (5/28)... Finished the year with a 6.62 goals against average.
2011 (Sophomore):Made his collegiate debut at Duke (3/11)... Saw 65 seconds of action in between the pipes and allowed one goal.
2010 (Freshman):Did not appear in a game as a true freshman.
Before Loyola:Earned seven varsity letters - four in lacrosse and three in hockey - at Yorktown High School in Yorktown Heights, N.Y.... Helped the Cornhuskers reach the state semifinals in 2007, 2008 and 2009... Became the first freshman to start in goal for the lacrosse team in 40 years... Amassed 677 saves for a .592 career saves percentage... Earned All-Section honors in 2008 and 2009.
Personal: Michael Savino Bonitatibus... Son of Rocky and Lori Bonitatibus... Born in Mount Kisco, N.Y.... Has one older brother, Rocky, and two younger brothers, Joey and Nicky.
