Wolfpack Intercollegiate Starts Monday For Golfers
BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland golf team will open play in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at NC State University's Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Monday. The 54-hole event will conclude with the final round on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds' lineup will feature senior Ethan Wall, senior Brendan Peel, junior Erick Alonso, sophomore Preston Ball and freshman Brett Inserra. Ball, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, will be making his season debut, while this will be Inserra's first collegiate event.
"We are looking forward to bouncing back this week after struggling a bit in the final round of our last event," head coach Chris Baloga said. "We have had some success in NC State's tournaments over the years and everyone in the lineup, with the exception of Brett, is familiar with this course. With another strong tournament field, the guys are looking forward to the challenge of competing with these great teams."
The 14-team field consists of Campbell, ECU, Francis Marion, George Washington, High Point, James Madison, Maryland, North Carolina, UNC-Greensboro, USC Upstate, UT-Chattanooga, and Wofford, in addition to the Greyhounds and host NC State.
Following this tournament, the Greyhounds will travel to Bridgeport, West Virginia, next week to play in the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9-10.
