Men's Golf Alumnus Jay Mulieri To Play In Web.Com Event

POTOMAC, Md. - Recent Loyola University Maryland graduate Jay Mulieri has received a sponsors' exemption to play in the Web.Com Tour Neediest Kids Championship.
The Web.com, formerly known as the Nationwide, Tour is the premier developmental tour for the PGA Tour.
Mulieri, who graduated in May 2012, will compete in the Neediest Kids Championship, which will be played at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm from October 4-7, 2012. The course, which Mulieri's home track, is located in Potomac, Md., a neighboring community to Mulieri's home in Silver Spring.
The event will be Mulieri's debut as a professional after a successful amateur career to date.
This summer, Mulieri competed in the Greystone Invitational in Alabama, one of the nation's premier amateur events, where he finished ninth. He also competed at the Palmetto Amateur in South Carolina, taking 25th. He also reached the quarterfinals of match play at the Metropolitan Open in the Washington, D.C., area.
Last year, Mulieri led Loyola to its fifth-straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and won medalist honors in the process. He was also named to the PING All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team following his senior year.
Mulieri won every MAAC Player of the Month awards last season and, he combined with his older brother Michael to become the first brothers to win the MAAC individual title. Jay had a stroke average of 71.83 as a senior, setting a school record.
Michael, who graduated from Loyola in 2009, will caddie for his brother at the event.
