Aug. 8, 2014
BALTIMORE - Head Golf Coach Chris Balogahas released the 2014-15 schedule for the Loyola University Maryland golf team.
The 2014 Patriot League Champions will travel to five events this fall, before using five more spring tournaments to prepare for the 2015 Patriot League Championships at Colgate on April 25-26.
Loyola will open the season at The Gimmler, hosted by St. John's University in Bethpage, N.Y., on September 13-14. The Greyhounds will then travel to a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference schools for two events in two weeks, heading to Notre Dame for the Fighting Irish Golf Classic on September 28-30 and to NC State for the Wolfpack Intercollegiate on October 6-7.
Maryland will host the Maryland Invitational in Rockville, Md., on October 13-14, and a trip to Ft. Myers, Fla., for Florida Gulf Coast's Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate will close out the fall portion of the schedule for Loyola on October 27-28.
The Greyhounds will open the spring by hosting the Snowman Getaway in Goodyear, Ariz., on February 22-24, before coming back east to spend March down south. Loyola will begin in Aiken, S.C., for the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on March 8-10, before trips to William & Mary's Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate in Kingsmill, Va., on March 22-24 and UNC Wilmington's Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C., on March 29-30.
A trip to Lynchburg, Va., for the Liberty Spring Invitational on April 10-11 will serve as a final tune-up for the 2015 Patriot League Championships. The defending champions will head to Colgate University for this year's league tournament on April 25-26, with the conference champion earning an automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Regional Championships.
Loyola begins the year looking for its eighth-straight conference title and NCAA regional appearance. Following six-straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships, the Greyhounds captured the Patriot League title in their inaugural year last season.
