Golf Announces 2012-13 Schedule
Aug. 1, 2012
BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland and head coach Chris Baloga announced the 2012-13 golf schedule Wednesday. The Greyhounds will travel to five fall competitions and five spring tournaments in preparation for the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships in April.
"Our strength of schedule has dramatically improved from year-to-year, with this year being the best so far," head coach Chris Baloga said. "We've added a lot of events to this year's schedule that will allow the guys to see different parts of the country. It will also give them an opportunity to play against a lot of schools they wouldn't otherwise face."
The Greyhounds will kick off the year in Florence, S.C., at Francis Marion's Raines Development Group Intercollegiate on Sept. 10-11. Loyola will then head to Seattle, Wash., for the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational, where the Greyhounds will face five schools that finished last year in the top 25.
Following the trip out west, Loyola will travel to Fort Myers, Fla., for the Miromar Lakes Invitational on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 and then to the Outer Banks, N.C., for the Old Dominion/OBX Intercollegiate on Oct. 21-23.
Loyola will close out its fall schedule with Wendy's Kiawah Classic in South Carolina on Oct. 28-30.
The spring will kick off on Feb. 25-26, when the Greyhounds travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for Washington State's Snowman Getaway. The Charleston Shootout will follow on March 4-5, with William & Mary's C&F Bank Intercollegiate taking place on March 24-26 in Kingsmill, Va.
The three-day Fireline Towson Invitational is scheduled to begin on March 31 before Loyola wraps up its regular season on April 20-21 at NC State's Wolfpack Spring Open.
The 2012 MAAC Championships will once again take place at ESPN's Wide World of Sports, where the Greyhounds will look to capture their sixth-straight conference title. The tournament is set for April 26-28 at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.
