CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland junior Connor Flach has been named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's golf, while senior Jimmy Dengler joins him on the five-member Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the League office Friday.

Flach becomes the second-straight Greyhound to be named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's golf, as Matt Oshrine earned the accolade a year ago. He is joined by Dengler, Colgate's Ryan Allison, Army West Point's Dean Sakata and Navy's Connor Tallman on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, making Loyola the lone program with two student-athletes honored.

A business administration major from Ellicott City, Maryland, Flach carries a 3.81 grade-point average and is making his second-straight appearance on the League's All-Academic Team. A two-time All-Patriot League Second Team performer, Flach finished tied for ninth at this year's conference championship with a 7-over 220.

Throughout the year, Flach competed in all 11 tournaments and finished the season second on the team with a 74.39 stroke average. He shot par-or-better through eight rounds and recorded four top-20 finishes, as he was fourth at the season-opening Rod Myers, tied for 15th at Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Classic, tied for 18th at the Maryland Intercollegiate and tied for ninth at the Patriot League Championships.

Dengler is making his second appearance on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as he also earned the honor in 2014. The Rumson, New Jersey, native carries a 3.423 grade-point average as an accounting major and was recently inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma national college athlete honor society.

At this year's Patriot League Championships, Dengler finished tied for 17th with a 13-over 226. He competed in five tournaments throughout the year and posted a 75.50 stroke average, while he was Loyola's top finisher at the Maryland Intercollegiate, leading the Greyhounds to a runner-up finish. Throughout his career, he's helped Loyola to three-straight conference championships and competed in three NCAA Regional Championships. He was also named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar last year.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in his sport. Freshmen are not eligible for the honor.
