Golf Opens Play At Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate Monday
The Loyola University Maryland golf team will open play at the 2018 Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club - North Course Monday.
Two rounds will be played on Monday, with the final round taking place on Tuesday.
"We are looking forward to building on the momentum from last weekend, where we set program scoring records at our Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona," head coach Chris Baloga said. "The course in Fort Lauderdale has some different challenges with generally consistent high winds, which we are looking forward to facing. We are also excited for the whole team, as everyone gets the chance to compete and get their season started, with the guys not on the starting team all competing as individuals."
Of the 14 teams competing, six programs return from the inaugural event - Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Hartford, Loyola University Maryland, Old Dominion and St. Bonaventure - while eight new programs will compete as well - Austin Peay State, Boston College, Connecticut, Davidson, Drexel, St. John's, Toledo and Villanova.
Loyola's lineup will consist of seniors Brendan Peel, Ethan Wall, Jeremy Wall, Bennett Wisner and freshman Brett Inserra.
Following the tournament, Loyola will travel to Williamsburg, Virginia, for the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Sunday, March 25 through Tuesday, March 27.
