Golf Concludes Fall Portion Of Schedule At Grandover Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team closed out the fall portion of its schedule with a ninth-place finish in the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate at the Grandover Resort - East Course Sunday.

Freshman Brandon Berry turned in Loyola's best score today, a 1-over 73, while senior Brendan Peel was one stroke back of that with a 2-over 74.

Senior Bennett Wisner led the Greyhounds through the tournament with a 12-over 228 after shooting a 76 today to finish tied for 33rd.

Freshman Brett Inserra was one stroke back of Wisner, carding a 77 to finish tied for 38th at 13-over 229.

Senior Ethan Wall, Peel and Berry also finished one stroke apart of each other, with Wall leading the way with an 18-over 234. After shooting a 79 today, Wall finished tied for 54th, while Peel was tied for 57th at 19-over 235 and Berry was tied for 59th at 20-over 236.

Competing individually, freshman Nick Mejia and sophomore Preston Ball turned in matching 78s today. Mejia took 62nd with a 21-over 237, while Ball was tied for 68th at 26-over 242.

Northwestern's Dylan Wu earned medalist honors with a 7-under 209, while the Wildcats also captured the team title with a 9-over 873. Loyola finished ninth at 55-over 919.

The Greyhounds will return to action after the semester break when they travel to Goodyear, Arizona, to host the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Springs Golf Course
