Golfers Complete First Round Rounds Of UNCG/Grandover Collegiate
GREENSBORO, N.C. -
The Loyola University Maryland golf team is in ninth place following the first two rounds of the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate at the Grandover Resort – East Course Saturday.
Senior Bennett Wisner and freshman Brett Inserra are tied for 28th overall with matching scores of 8-over 152. Wisner shot a 74 and 78 through the two rounds, respectively, while Inserra turned in a 75 and a 77.
Senior Ethan Wall is third for the Greyhounds, at 1-over 155 (80-75), while he’s followed by senior Brendan Peel, who’s tied for 61st at 17-over 161 (81-80), and freshman Brandon Berry, who’s tied for 65th at 19-over 163 (80-83).
In addition, freshman Nick Mejia and sophomore Preston Ball are playing as individuals. Mejia is tied for 58th after shooting an 81 and a 78 for a 15-over 159 through the two rounds. Ball is tied for 68th with round scores of 83 and 81 for a two-round score of 20-over 164.
Northwestern’s Dylan Wu leads the individuals with a 5-under 139, while Duke’s Alex Smalley and North Carolina’s Jose Montano are tied for second at 3-under 141.
As a team, the Greyhounds are ninth with a 43-over 619. North Carolina took over the lead with a 6-over 582, followed by Duke at 10-over 586 and Northwestern at 11-over 587.
Loyola will return to the course Sunday morning for 9:30 a.m. start to the final round.
