Atlantic City, N.J. - Freshman Chris Derby was very consistent on Monday afternoon, firing a 36 on both the front and back nine, leading Loyola to a Day One lead at Temple's John MacDonald Classic in Atlantic City, N.J. The Greyhounds hold a 12-stroke lead after 18 holes while Derby is tied for first atop the leaderboard with a first-round 72 at Galloway National Golf Club.

"The conditions were great," says Loyola Head Coach Tom Beidleman. "The golf course set up beautifully and we were able to take advantage with a very consistent effort. Hopefully we'll have more of the same tomorrow."

The Greyhounds posted a team score of 295 while host Temple is tied with Iona for second with a 307. Derby heads into Tuesday's round tied with Connecticut's Jason Parajeckas while both T.J. Tuesday's final round will consist of 18 holes on the par 71, 6374-yard course. Loyola is the defending John MacDonald Classic champion and is playing in its final fall tournament of the year.
