Wall Shoots Even Par To Capture Second Top-10 Finish Of Season
BRIDGEPORT, W.V. - Senior Ethan Wall shot an even par through the three rounds of the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational at the Pete Dye Golf Club to finish in a tie for 10th place Tuesday, while the Loyola University Maryland golf team took 12th with a team score of 27-over 864.
Wall, the Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Month for September, led the Greyhounds with a 1-under 71 today after ending his first two rounds at 73 and 72, respectively. His even 216 awards him his second top-10 finish of the season.
Bennett Wisner finished second for Loyola shooting 9-over 225 and tying for 51st overall. He shot a 77 through the first and third rounds and turned in a 71 on his second trip through the course.
Brendan Peel was one stroke back of Wisner and tied for 54th at 10-over 226 (74-74-78), while Evan Brown tied for 62nd at 12-over 228 (82-71-75). Preston Ball rounded out the Greyhounds competing, shooting an 80, 81 and 76, respectively, to finish tied for 77th with a three-round score of 237.
Bowling Green State won the team title with an even 864. West Virginia was two strokes back at 2-over 866, while Rutgers came in third with 4-over 868.
Marshall’s Alex Weiss earned medalist honors by finishing first at 8-under 216, followed by West Virginia’s Etienne Papineau (211, -5) in second. Wall tied for 10th with West Virginia’s Max Sear, Tony Jiang and Christopher Gotterup from Rutgers and Walker Cress from James Madison University.
Loyola will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 for UNCG’s Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro, North Carolina.
