Providence Forge, Va. - Senior T.J. Shuart closed out the Joe Agee Intercollegiate with a round of 75, helping Loyola climb two spots to No. 9 in the final team standings. The Greyhounds, with rounds of 305-302-313, finish ninth in the 17-team field at the Royal New Kent Golf Club in Providence Forge, Va.

"Consistency hurt us," says Loyola head coach Tom Beidleman. "We dug ourselves too big a hole and we couldn't make up enough ground on the final day."

The `Hounds entered Tuesday's round in 11th place with freshman Matt Bassler leading the way. Bassler posted rounds of 76 and 73 and was tied for 24th among all individuals. On Tuesday, Bassler posted an 80 and finished with a three-round 229.

Villani, who shot his best collegiate round on Monday (71), came back to fire a 76 on Tuesday and scored a 228 to lead the team. Shuart's 75 brought his tournament score to 232, placing him in the field's Top-50.

"I was glad to see Tommy Villani play the type of golf he is capable of playing," says Beidleman. "He had a very solid tournament, and other than a five-hole stretch in the first round, played as good as I've seen him play at Loyola."

Sophomore Will Shriver finished with a 234 after an 82 on Tuesday while freshman Nick Brassill posted an 83 and scored a 249 for the three-round tournament.

Rutgers University won the Joe Agee Intercollegiate with a team score of 871 while Towson's Alex Brueggemann took medallist honors with a two-under par 214. Loyola is idle for the next two weekends and closes out the fall season at the John MacDonald Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, October 25-26.
