RALEIGH, N.C. - Sophomore Preston Ball turned in a 4-under 212 to finish the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in a tie for sixth place Tuesday, while the Loyola University Maryland golf team finished fourth overall with a team score of 2-over 866.

Loyola's fourth-place finish marks its best at the course since the 2013-14 season when the Greyhounds finished third in a weather-shortened event.

Ball, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, led Loyola with an even 72 today to log his first collegiate under par performance and top-10 finish. He also becomes the seventh Greyhound to earn a top-10 finish at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in head coach Chris Baloga's eight years at the helm of the program.

Senior Brendan Peel was the last Greyhound to earn a place in the top-10 of an NC State event, finishing 10th at the Wolfpack Spring Open last April. He was Loyola's second finisher today, shooting a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 15th with an even 216.

Senior Ethan Wall was one stroke back of that after turning in a 74 today to finish tied for 22nd at 1-over 217. Freshman Brett Inserra, making his collegiate debut, finished tied for 52nd at 12-over 228 after carding a 75 through today's final round, and junior Erick Alonso was tied for 61st with a 16-over 232.

NC State won the team title with a 16-under 848, while North Carolina was two strokes back at 14-under 850. Campbell finished third with a 1-under 863.

The Wolfpack's Stephen Franken earned medalist honors at 15-under 201, followed by Campbell's Pontus Nyholm (209, -7) and UNC's William Register (210, -6), respectively. Chattanooga's Luke Long and East Carolina's Timothy Conover tied for fourth at 5-under 211, while Ball tied with George Washington's Logan Lowe, Maryland's Peter Knade and North Carolina's Austin Hitt.

Loyola will return to action on Monday for West Virginia's two-day Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club.
