Williamsburg, Va. - Sophomore Chris Derby is one-over par after 36 holes and Loyola sits in ninth place after two rounds at the Joe Agee Invitational. The Greyhounds posted a 592 on Monday, scoring rounds of 295 and 297 to position themselves within striking distance at the region-rich tournament.
Derby helped Loyola to a 295 in the morning round with his two-under par 70. Classmate Matt Bassler was one-over with a 73 as the Greyhounds got off to a quick start at Two Rivers Country Club in Williamsburg, Va.
Freshman Michael Mullieri, who posted a 75 in his first round, had Loyola's top second-round score with a 73 and is three strokes back of Derby with a two-round 148. Bassler, sophomore Nick Brassill and junior Will Shriver are separated by three strokes and are all among the Top-50 in individual standings.
George Washington leads the field with a team score of 573 while St. Joseph's and Old Dominion are tied for second at 581. The Greyhounds, who are seven strokes out of the Top-5, lead regional rivals Rutgers, James Madison and Georgetown heading into Tuesday's final round.
