Lemp Tied For Lead At Season-Opening Raines Dev. Intercollegiate
FLORENCE, S.C. - Junior Brendan Lemp led the Loyola University Maryland golf team on the first day of its 2012-13 season at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate on Monday. Lemp carded a tournament-best 6-under 66 through the first round and followed that up with a 2-under 70 to finish the day tied for the lead with Gardner Webb’s Matthew Yelverton at 8-under 136.
Sophomore Bart George opened his season with a 1-over 73 before shaving off six strokes through the second round for a 5-under 67. George finished the day tied for fifth at 4-under 140.
Freshmen Jimmy Dengler and Keegan Boone made their collegiate debuts for Loyola with Dengler sitting tied for 57th and Boone tied for 63rd heading into the final round. Dengler shot 2-over 74 on his first round through the course and followed that up with a 4-over 76 to finish the day at 6-over 150.
Boone is one stroke behind his classmate, as he finished the day at 7-over 151. He carded a 7-over 79 through round one but improved his score to an even 72 through the second round.
Junior Cameron Liebert rounds out the Greyhounds competing in the season-opening event. Liebert enters the final round in 79th place with a score of 155. He shot a 77 through the first round and had a 78 in the second round.
Loyola will conclude competition at the event tomorrow.
