Golf Stands 13th After First Day Of NCAA Athens Regional

ATHENS, Ga. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s golf team shot a 17-over par 301 to stand 13th after the first day of the 2012 NCAA Athens Regional on the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
Alabama leads the field after the first day after shooting a 15-under par 269. The Crimson Tide are two shots up on North Florida. North Florida's Kevin Aylwin is the individual leader with a 6-under par 75, leading teammate MJ Maguire and Alabama's Bobby Wyatt by one stroke. Loyola sits four shots behind 12th-place Long Beach State.
The Greyhounds were led by freshman Bart George, as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year carded a 3-over par 74 and is tied for 52nd overall.
The Greyhounds will continue competition in Athens, Ga., on the University of Georgia Golf Course on Friday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. The top-five teams from the regional will qualify for the NCAA Championship on May 29-June 3 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
