Columbus, Ohio - Junior Michael Mulieri closed play at the 2008 NCAA Central Regional with a round of 75, helping Loyola to a final round 321 on the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds finished 27th as a team with a three-day total of 953.

Mulieri finished with two birdies in Saturday's final round, scoring a three on the Par 4, 429-yard third hole and firing a two on the Par 3, 221-yard 13th hole. For the tournament, Mulieri improved each day, posting consecutive rounds of 80-79-75.

Senior Matt Bassler, who shot Loyola's low round of the tournament - a 74 on Day One, closed with a round of 80. Bassler also had a pair of birdies on Saturday, including one on the Par 5 fourth hole, which played the second hardest of all holes for the tournament.

Senior Chris Derby, who posted a 79 in his final round of collegiate golf, was the most consistent of the Greyhounds at the Regional. Derby finished with three rounds of 79 to figure heavily in the Loyola scoring each day.

Freshman Alex Redfearn closed the year with a round of 86, while junior Mike O'Keefe scored a 90 in his final round at the Scarlet Course.

Wake Forest won the Central Region with an impressive three-round score of 879, while Kevin Tway of Oklahoma State took medalist honors. The Cowboys finished second, while Illinois, Florida and Louisville rounded out the field's top five teams. The Top-10 teams advance to the Purdue for the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship Tournament.
