Golfers Conclude First Round Of NCAA Regionals Tied For 12th

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team finished the first day of the NCAA Columbia Regional in a tie for 12th place with Ohio State. The Greyhounds combined for a first-round score of 20-over 308.

Senior Brendan Lemp led Loyola with a 4-over 76 and finished the day tied for 46th overall.

Junior Bart George and freshman Matt Oshrine carded a pair of 5-over 77s, tying them with six others for 52nd place, while sophomore Jimmy Dengler was one stroke behind and finished tied for 60th at 6-over 78.

Freshman Connor Flach concluded the day with an 11-over 83, placing him 74th.

Led by Jordan Niebrugge (7-under 65) and Talor Gooch (5-under 67), No. 2 Oklahoma State tops the team leaderboard with a 16-under 272.  The hosts, No. 46 Missouri, sit second with a 7-under 281, while No. 11 Virginia is the only other squad to finish under par through the first round, shooting a 3-under 285.

Individually, behind Niebrugge and Gooch, Missouri’s Hunter Kraus and Virginia’s David Pastore are third with matching 4-under 68s, while Denny McCarthy (Virginia) and Ryan Zech (Missouri) are tied for fifth at 3-under 69.

Loyola will return to the course tomorrow for the second round. The Greyhounds will tee off at 10:40 a.m. ET.
