Greyhounds Remain In Lead After Second Round Of MAAC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team extended its lead to 12 strokes after the second round of the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course on Saturday. The Greyhounds shot a 3-over 291 on their second trip through the course to lead second-place Saint Peter’s, 577-589.
Senior Jay Mulieri is tied with Niagara’s Michael Jiggins for the lead through two rounds, carding a 1-under 71 for a two-round score of 3-under 141.
Senior Patrick McCormick is second on the team and tied for seventh overall at 1-over 145 after shooting a 1-over 73 today, and classmate Ryan McCarthy is two strokes behind at 3-over 147. McCarthy finished the day at 4-over 76.
Sophomore Brendan Lemp shaved six strokes off his score from yesterday, finishing the day at 1-under 71 to move into a tie for 12th at 4-over 148.
Freshman Bart George rounds out the Greyhounds competing, finishing the day tied for 16th overall at 6-over 150. He shot a 5-over 77 through the second round.
Loyola will return to the course tomorrow for the final round of play. The Greyhounds will begin competition at 9:10 a.m.
