Golfers Lead After First Day Of Patriot League Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s golf team holds a five-stroke lead over all competition following the opening day and first two rounds of the Patriot League Championship at Army’s West Point Golf Course.
With four golfers in the top-10, the Greyhounds have shot a 10-over 570, while Army is second at 15-over 575. Navy holds onto third with a 26-over 586.
Individually, sophomore Jimmy Dengler is tied for second overall with a 1-under 139. He shot a 1-over 71 through the first round and then shaved three strokes off of that to finish at 2-under 68 through the second round.
Senior Brendan Lemp also improved upon his first-round score, jumping four places and into a tie for fourth place heading into the final round. Lemp shot a 2-over 73 through the first round and then carded a 1-under 69 through the second to finish at 2-over 142.
Freshman Matt Oshrine and junior Bart George are also among the top-10 individuals, with Oshrine sitting in a tie for eighth at 6-over 146 and George in a tie for 10th. Oshrine shot a 1-under 70 and 5-over 76, respectively, and George shot 2-over 73 and 3-over 74, respectively.
Navy’s August Jonas holds a one-stroke lead over all individuals, shooting a pair of 69’s for a 2-under 139. Army’s Peter Kim is tied with Dengler for second at 1-under 139 and Lehigh’s Harley Abrams is tied with Lemp for fourth at 2-over 142.
Loyola will return to the course on Sunday for the final round. The individual winner and team winner will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
