Greyhounds' Golfers 7th At Detroit Titans Invitational

HIGHLAND, Mich. - A final round score of 302 helped the Greyhounds to a seventh-place finish in the Detroit Titans Invitational, Saturday afternoon in Highland, Mich.

Loyola finished with a combined 915. Wisconsin-Green Bay took home the title with an 880 and host Detroit Mercy finished tied for third with Oakland with a 900.

Led by Jay Mulieri, the Greyhounds posted scores of 304-309 in the first two rounds at Prestwick Village Golf Club. Their closing-round 302 was the second-lowest score in the third round. Mulieri had the best finish for Loyola, picking up his second straight top-20 finish. The sophomore fired back-to-back rounds of 73 after opening with an 80 to finish tied for 18th at 10-over (226).

Alex Redfearn finished three shots off his teammate. A 75 in the third round put him at 13-over 229 (74-80-75) and tied for 30th.

Jason Burton fired a 75 in the third round as well, leading him to a tie for 38th. Burton opened with scores of 76 and 80 to finish with a 15-over 231.

Ryan McCarthy and Patrick McCormick finished with a 235 and a 236, respectively, and tied for 48th and 51st. McCarthy went 76-80-79 to finish at 19-over. McCormick opened well, going 78-76 Friday, but struggled in the final round, closing out with an 82 to finish at 20-over.

The event concludes the regular season for the Loyola. The Greyhounds will now try to defend their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title at the championship tournament in Celebration, Fla. The tournament will get underway on April 30.
