WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Loyola University Maryland freshman golfer Matt Oshrine shaved one stroke off his first round score to move into a tie for fifth place on the second day of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort-River Course Monday afternoon.

Oshrine shot an even 70 today and will enter the third round tied with Appalachian State’s John Michael Cole and William & Mary’s Davis Morrison for fifth place at 1-over 141.

Senior Brendan Lemp and freshman Connor Flach are among 10 competitors tied for 60th place at 11-over 151. Flach shot a 7-over 77 today, while Lemp carded an 8-over 78.

Junior Bart George and sophomore Jimmy Dengler round out the Greyhounds competing and will enter the third round in a 15-way tie for 83rd place with scores of 14-over 154. Dengler had the biggest improvement for the Greyhounds today, shooting a 3-over 73. George shot 6-over 76.

Texas Tech took over sole possession of first place and currently lead all 27 teams with a 6-over 566. Eastern Michigan fell to second with a two-round score of 14-over 574, while James Madison improved to third and is at 17-over 577. Loyola has shot two-straight rounds of 16-over 296 for a two-round score of 32-over 592.

Radford’s Ryan Rettberg moved into first after shooting a 3-under 67 for a two-round 4-under 136. Texas Tech’s Clement Sordet and UNCG’s Carter Jenkins are tied for second at 2-under 138, while Matias Dominguez (Texas Tech) is fourth at 1-under 139.


 

 

Loyola will return to the course tomorrow morning for the third and final round of play.
